The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) to determine eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges. Aspiring candidates for the December 2024 cycle can now apply online for the January 2025 examination. Here are the details you need to know:

- Application Start Date: 1st November 2024
- Last Date to Apply: 30th November 2024
- Correction Window: 2nd December 2024 to 5th December 2024
- Admit Card Release: 15th January 2025
- Exam Dates: January 19 to January 25, 2025
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have a Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Minimum marks required:
- General/EWS: 55%
- OBC/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender: 50%
Age Limit
- JRF: Maximum 30 years as of 1st January 2025. Relaxation of up to 5 years is provided for reserved categories, women, and other eligible groups.
- Assistant Professor: No upper age limit.
Application Process
- Visit the Official Website: Go to https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
- Register: Click on “New Registration” and provide the required details.
- Fill the Application Form: Log in with your credentials and complete the application form with personal, educational, and contact details.
- Upload Documents:
- Recent Passport Size Photograph
- Scanned Signature
- Category Certificate (if applicable)
- PwD Certificate (if applicable)
- Pay the Application Fee: Use online payment methods (Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI) to pay the fee as per your category:
- General: ₹1100
- EWS/OBC: ₹550
- SC/ST/PwD: ₹275
- Submit the Form: Review all details and submit the application.
- Print Confirmation Page: Save and print the confirmation page for future reference.
Exam Pattern
Mode of Examination:
- Computer-Based Test (CBT)
Structure:
- Paper I: General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude (50 Questions, 100 Marks)
- Paper II: Subject-Specific Paper (100 Questions, 200 Marks)
Duration:
- Total: 3 Hours (no break between papers)
Marking Scheme:
- Correct Answer: +2 marks
- No Negative Marking

Admit Card
